Look closely at a khayamiya panel and you’ll see how it comes together: small shapes of coloured cotton, their edges tucked under and stitched onto a canvas backing.
The layers give the fabric its texture. The same technique works on a wall hanging, a cushion cover or a pouf, with patterns that can be bold and busy or simple and quiet.
Bab Zuweila takes its name from the gate near Khayamiya Street. It is the name of this website, where you can browse our pieces and place an order.
You can also see the pieces in person on Khayamiya Street, opposite El-Kurdy Mosque. Message us before your visit if you have a particular piece in mind.
